Short explanation:

Formation:

Verb-past + きり

Examples:

彼は会社を辞めたきり、連絡がない。
Kare wa kaisha wo yameta kiri, renraku ga nai.
Since he quit the company, there's been no contact.
昨日の朝、メールを送ったきり、返事がない。
Kinou no asa, meeru wo okutta kiri, henji ga nai.
I sent an email yesterday morning, and there's been no reply since then.
子供のころ海に行ったきりで、もう20年になる。
Kodomo no koro umi ni itta kiri de, mou nijuunen ni naru.
It's been 20 years since I last went to the sea as a child.
彼女と別れたきり、彼女のことを考えなくなった。
Kanojo to wakareta kiri, kanojo no koto wo kangaenakunatta.
Ever since breaking up with her, I stopped thinking about her.

The ~たきり grammar point is used to express that an action occurred once and has not been repeated, or that a situation or state has continued since a certain event or time. It can be translated as 'since then', 'after' or 'one time only' in English.
