Tā bùshì jīlì wǒ, xiāng fǎn, tā ràng wǒ huīxīn sàngqì.
He did not motivate me, on the contrary, he made me discouraged.
我原来认为他们会生气,相反,他们很高兴我说出实话。
Wǒ yuánlái rènwéi tāmen huì shēngqì, xiāng fǎn, tāmen hěn gāoxìng wǒ shuō chū shíhuà.
I initially thought they would be angry, on the contrary, they were happy that I spoke the truth.
